The Benalmadena Pleasure Harbour opened in 1982. Apart from the huge variety of different boats in the harbour there are a variety of interesting shops and high class restaurants, bars and snack bars. This is a lively and popular area, day and night.
The superb beaches of Benalmadena have been awarded the European Seas Blue Flag for cleanliness and the spectacular rock formations along the coast create an exceptionally beautiful landscape. Every need is catered for whilst quiet secluded beach areas can be found for those looking for a romantic or peaceful place to unwind and relax.
Parque de la Paloma, or Paloma park, is situated right in the centre of Benalmádena, in Arroyo de la Miel. Covering some 200,000 square metres and only 200m from the main coastal road of Benalmádena Costa, or 10 minutes by car from Benalmádena’s old town.
This park has a dolphinarium, an enclosed area for seals and sea lions, a penguin area, an exotic bird exhibition, a virtual reality area, and an interactive section called “Touch and Explore”. Its latest novelty is the attractive island of ice, where the penguin family lives.

If you want to venture further afield, in the next town along the coast, Fuengirola, you will find a fabulous zoo. All set in naturalisitic enclosures, a recreated jungle clearing and a kids play area.
